Wow, it’s already 3 days into 2012.

Have you had your 2012 New Year Resolution thought out already?

If not, here are some ideas for you all based around improving yourself and subsequently people around you (ever heard of the butterfly effect?).

Better Your Health

Rather than making each of these things as new year resolutions, I’m just going to lump them all together as something you should do to better your health:

  • Eat Better
  • Drink Less
  • Exercise More
  • Stop Smoking
  • Break Old Habits

No… Facebook & Twitter don’t count.

Go to your nearest local public library. Seriously.  The public libraries are so under utilized, and it’s free!  They even have free internet there if you insist on reading from websites.

Be careful, though.  There is saying, “You are what you eat.”  Same goes for, “You are what you read.”  So, choose your book wisely.

Build Wealth

I’m a long-time Dave Ramsey fan, so I will give you advice your grandmother would give, except I keep my teeth in:

  • Stop accumulating debt.  That means no more credit cards, sorry.
  • Live frugally, and only buy things you need, with cash.
  • Save.  Save.  Save!

Start a Blog

What does starting a blog has anything to do with new year’s resolution?

Announce on your blog what your new year’s resolution is, and have your readers/subscribers keep you accountable!

This is the reason why people who write diaries tend to accomplish their goals, because they keep themselves accountable through daily reflection.

A blog is extremely helpful for tracking your goals, so use it like a diary.  You can set it up to be private (for your eyes only), or public so the whole world can see it and keep you accountable for what you said you would do.

Until then, have a wonderful and prosperous 2012!
